چکیده
The purpose of this work is the study ability plant material Aloe vera to act as natural coagulant using raw water obtained from a drinking treatment (Mila, Algeria). Different solvents such as: NaCl; NaOH and HCl were used chemical activators extract active components plant, different coagulation-flocculation experiments conducted in jar test apparatus evaluate performance extracted coagulant. Also, effect dose on some parameters turbidity, pH, total alkalinity organic matter investigated. results showed that use coagulants by increases coagulation efficiency compared material, for example maximum turbidity removal was 28.23, 78.07, 83.46 85.15% when powdered (raw material), AV-NaCl (0.5 M), AV-NaOH (0.05 M) AV-HCl respectively. defined, residual work, where (after solvents) produced lower than Algerian standard (5 NTU) with initial (13 NTU). In study, infrared spectrum analysis has revealed presence functional groups, which are responsible process.

Chitosan as a Drinking Water Treatment Coagulant
Inorganic aluminum or iron salts have been used for many decades to coagulate colloidal particles in surface water prior to flocculation, sedimentation and/or filtration. Although effective, inorganic coagulants have several disadvantages including large chemical dosages required for treating eutrophic waters, large volumes of chemical sludge produced, and toxic effects of metallic coagulants o...
متن کاملInvestigation of Trihalomethanes in Drinking Water of Abbas Abad Water Treatment Plant
Introduction: Chlorination is the most common and successful method for disinfection of drinking water, especially in developing countries. However, due to the probability of formation of disinfection by-products especially Trihalomethanes (THMs) that are known as hazardous and usually carcinogenic compounds, this study was conducted to assess the investigation of THMs in drinking water of Abba...
متن کاملModelling of coagulant dosage in a water treatment plant
Abstract: Artificial Neural Network (ANN) techniques are applied to the control of coagulant dosing in a drinking water treatment plant. Coagulant dosing rate is non-linearly correlated to raw water parameters such as turbidity, conductivity, pH, temperature, etc. An important requirement of the application is robustness of the system against erroneous sensor measurements or unusual water chara...
متن کاملWater Melon Seed as a Potential Coagulant for Water Treatment
This paper reports the potential of watermelon seed as a natural coagulant for water treatment. It was aimed at identifying watermelon seed as a possible replacement for alum and other synthetic polyelectrolytes in treating water. Laboratory scale studies using jar test experiments were performed on medium turbid water to determine the effect of dosage, pH stirring time and speed on coagulation...
متن کاملHome water treatment by direct filtration with natural coagulant.
Seeds of the plant species Strychnos potatorum and Moringa oleifera contain natural polyelectrolytes which can be used as coagulants to clarify turbid waters. In laboratory tests, direct filtration of a turbid surface water (turbidity 15-25 NTU, heterotrophic bacteria 280-500 cfu ml(-1), and fecal coliforms 280-500 MPN 100 ml(-1)), with seeds of S. potatorum or M. oleifera as coagulant, produce...
